How a claim works
From the first phone call to the final payment
Every claim is different, but most move through the same six stages. Here's what happens at each, and who does what.
- 01
Step 1: You call
Tell us what happened. We'll ask about the injury, the job and any letters you've had. The call and the first meeting are free.
- 02
Step 2: We take the claim on
If we can help, we sign a written fee agreement and notify the employer and the insurer that we represent you. From then on, they talk to us.
- 03
Step 3: We gather the record
Accident reports, medical records, wage records and witness statements. We check that every form says what actually happened.
- 04
Step 4: You get treatment
Your job is to follow your doctor's plan. Ours is to get the treatment approved and the wage benefits paid while you do.
- 05
Step 5: We answer any denial
If a benefit or treatment is refused, we appeal and go to the hearing with you.
- 06
Step 6: The claim resolves
Through permanent benefits, a settlement or a return to work. We'll explain each option and what it gives up. You make the decision.
While your claim is open
What to keep, and where
A folder at home does more for a claim than most people think.
Keep everything the insurer, your employer and your doctors send you, in the order it arrives. Write down each missed day, each appointment and each mile you drive to treatment. When something is refused, the answer is usually in those papers.
Keep these
Every letter from the insurer or the bureau
Pay stubs from before and after the injury
Appointment dates and mileage
Names of coworkers who saw what happened

Start with a free first meeting
At the office or by video, whichever is easier while you recover.
Please don't send confidential details until we've spoken.
