On-the-job injuries
Hurt on the job
Falls, lifting injuries, machine injuries, burns, and the slow damage of repeating the same motion for years. If it happened because of the work, it may be covered.
The first weeks matter most
Most claims that go wrong go wrong early: an injury reported late, a form that describes the wrong body part, a first doctor's note that says less than it should. We help you get the report and the first records right, so the claim describes what actually happened.
What a claim can pay for
- Medical care for the injury, from the first visit through surgery and therapy
- Part of your wages while you can't work
- Mileage to and from treatment
- Compensation for lasting damage, once your treatment has gone as far as it can
What to do now
Tell your supervisor in writing, keep a copy, and write down the names of anyone who saw it. Then call us before you sign anything the insurer sends.
Sample matters
Two sample injury claims
Claim allowed
Fall from a ladder, roofer
The first report said sprain. We had it corrected to the broken wrist before the first payment.
2024
Wage loss paid
Back injury, nursing assistant
The employer said the lift happened at home. Two coworkers' statements said otherwise.
2023
Sample matters, for the firm to replace with its own. Every claim turns on its own facts, and past results don't guarantee a similar outcome.
Questions about on-the-job injuries
I'm a temp or a contractor. Am I covered?
Often, yes. Who counts as an employee depends on how the work is actually done, not on what the paperwork calls you. Tell us how you were paid and who directed the work.
I was hurt in the parking lot. Does that count?
Sometimes. Injuries on the employer's property, or while doing something for the job, can be covered. The details decide it.
Should I keep working?
Only within what your doctor allows. Working past your restrictions can make the injury worse and give the insurer something to point to.
